How can I clear the cache from Microsoft Internet Explorer? ![]()
Microsoft has released a utility that deletes all temporary internet files, cookies and history files. After you download and run the files, click Next to the wizard's Welcome page. On the next screen, select "I Agree" and click Next.
This program was initially intended to clear the cache in an error scenario, particularly around corrupt entries.
In IE 7.0, this functionality is available under Tools, Delete Browsing History, with granular options that include deleting just cookies, files, history, form data, and passwords or deleting everything.

How Do I Add/Remove “Supplied By XXX” From Internet Explorer Title Bar ![]()
There are occasions when Internet Explorer Browser has the words ‘Supplied by’ followed by the name of your ISP or PC Manufacturer. You can easily remove this intrusive advertising by using one of two methods.
The first will only work with Windows XP Professional. The second method requires the user to edit the registry. This can be used for both Windows XP Home and Professional.
Windows XP Professional Only
1. Click Start, Run and in the dialog box type: gpedit.msc
2. This will open the Group Policy window
3. On the left of the window you will see a list of options. Select User Configuration and click on the plus sign to expand the menu. Click the plus sign next to the option marked Windows Settings and then click the plus sign next to the Internet Explorer Maintenance Option
4. From the drop down menu select Browser User Interface and you should now see three options in the right hand pane of the Group Policy window
5. Right click on the Browser Title option and select Properties
6. If you want to Add a title place a check mark in the ‘Customise Title Bar’ box
7. Type the text you require into the Browser Title box or delete the text that is there, then press Apply and OK
8. Finally close the Group Policy Window.
Windows XP Home and Professional
This second method requires you to edit the registry. Make sure that you have backed up your registry and set a system restore point before making any alterations.
1/ Click the Start button
2/ Next click Run
3/ In the Run dialog box type: Regedit
4/ The Registry editor will now open
5/ To edit the Windows Title for Outlook Express navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/identities/outlookexpress/5.0
6/ From the list of items that appear in the right hand pane locate Windows Title
7/ Right click on this option and select Modify
8/ Now Delete 'Microsoft Outlook express Supplied by XXXX' from the Value Data dialog box
9/ To remove the title bar from Windows Explorer proceed as above but navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Main
10/ Once again locate the Windows Title option and right click on it, select Modify and then delete 'Microsoft Windows Explorer Supplied by XXXX' from the value data dialog box.
11/ Finally close the registry editor
